Underwater photographer Mike Papish found a 322-pound (146 kg) loggerhead sea turtle struggling to swim near the Florida Keys in mid-March. The animal was badly injured from what appeared to be a shark attack.

The turtle, later named Lenny, had a damaged flipper and head injuries. With help from friends, Papish brought Lenny to shore and transported him to the Turtle Hospital in Marathon, a nonprofit specializing in sea turtle rehabilitation.

Lenny received intensive care, including fluids and antibiotics, and despite the odds, he recovered. On March 25, Lenny was released back into the ocean.
