This jam is sold at Walmart and Costco, and I had to share this heartwarming story, which I think you’ll also appreciate ❤️

*The event happened in a New Jersey supermarket. The tweet comes from Michael Perino @ProfessorPerino*

While at the supermarket, I saw an older woman struggling to reach a jar of @BonneMamanUS preserves on a high shelf. She couldn’t see the labels or reach them easily. I offered to help.

After I gave her the raspberry preserves, she thanked me, then asked, “Do you know why I buy this brand?”

I chuckled and said, “Because it tastes good?”

“Yes, it does.” She paused. “I’m a Holocaust survivor.”

This wasn’t what I expected to hear while grocery shopping. “During the war, the company that makes this jam hid my family in Paris. So now I always buy it. And my grandkids always remind me, ‘Bubbe, don’t forget the jelly.'”

I told her that was the best reason to buy a product. We both smiled behind our masks and went our separate ways.

Someone else on Twitter researched the story and confirmed that the town where Andros Company, the maker of Bonne Maman, is from, did indeed hide and save Jewish families during WW2. The town was Biars sur Cere, which had about 800 residents at the time.

According to an article, “You have to understand what it was like then. There were posters on the walls, from the Nazis and from the collaborators, and they said that if you are found to help a Jew, a freemason, a communist, a socialist, or a pervert, you will be shot on sight.” Despite the risk, they kept the children safe.”

It’s a great reason to buy Bonne Maman. It’s a touching reminder that helping others can change lives and that there are kind and selfless people in the world.

♥️Bonne Maman! 🇫🇷
