This is the final photo of Saman Kunan, a 38-year-old former Thai Navy SEAL β and a man whose courage still echoes through the world π.
In 2018, when 12 boys and their coach were trapped deep inside the flooded Tham Luang cave, Saman volunteered to help, even though he had already left the Navy. The mission was dangerous, dark, and claustrophobic. But he knew what was at stake: lives.
On one dive, he carried oxygen canisters to the boysβ chamber. He delivered them successfully. But on the way back, his own oxygen ran out. He lost consciousness underwater and never woke up.
Saman died so that others could live.
His sacrifice helped make one of the most incredible rescue missions in history possible. He was posthumously awarded high honors, but more than that β he is remembered as a symbol of selfless bravery. π«‘
Heroes donβt always wear capes.
Sometimes, they carry tanks into the dark.
