The Kardashians Season 7 Trailer Promises Crazy Moments, Delivers Nothing

The Kardashians has been supposedly bringing viewers closer to the famous family than ever since 2022, but with the next season’s trailer giving a whole lot of nothing, it’s becoming clear that blurring the lines is the whole point of the series. With The Kardashians season 7 coming soon, the trailer has finally been released, giving viewers a preview of this season.

While The Kardashians season 7’s trailer appears like it will feature some major moments, like the verdict of Kim Kardashian’s 2016 Paris robbery and the return of Caitlyn Jenner to a family event, the rest of the trailer feels thin. This is often the modus operandi when it comes to The Kardashians, who have tried to sell their Hulu series as an in-depth look into their lives.

Though their original E! series, Keeping Up With The Kardashians, was often meant to be a lighter look at the family, as they became more famous, the show became less authentic and more severe. When the Kardashian family branched out with their Hulu series, they over promised distinct authenticity, but have under delivered with a highly curated picture of their lives.

The Kardashians Season 7 Trailer Is Giving Nothing, Despite Promising To Be Crazier Than Ever

This Is Often The Mantra Of The Family

Although The Kardashians has long been a part of public consciousness, both in its current form and as Keeping Up, the newer version of the series hasn’t taken off the same way the original did. The Kardashians season 7’s trailer, while featuring a few storylines of note, seems to be a lot of out of context, vaguely aspirational moments interspersed with family conflict.

While viewers don’t necessarily look to the Kardashian-Jenner family for realism, the series has promised “crazy” content year after year and has rarely actually provided any. Yes, there have been moments where the show reveals something juicy about a family member. For example, Khloé Kardashian and Lamar Odom’s meetup last season was worth the Hulu subscription fee. Unfortunately, those moments are few and far between.

The Kardashians Is Meant To Feel Curated

Unfortunately, Being Curated Costs The Family Authenticity

Yes, The Kardashians season 7 trailer is giving us a whole lot of nothing, but with great lighting and rare moments of fanfare. Glenn Close and Sarah Paulson are going to drink martinis with Kris Jenner! Kourtney Kardashian-Barker is being vaguely condescending to one of her sisters! Those moments are curated, which is exactly what the Kardashian-Jenner family wants from their reality TV show.

One of the long-standing issues with Keeping Up With The Kardashians, for the family at least, was that they didn’t have full creative control over how they were being portrayed. While this may have been more entertaining for viewers, the family wasn’t as happy with the end result. While The Kardashians resolves that issue for the family, it feels far less authentic because of it.

As the living, breathing documentation of what’s happening in the lives of the Kardashian-Jenner family, The Kardashians is the most curated reality TV experience on screen. While they allow themselves to appear more vulnerable and intimate than they did on KUWTK, the family still doesn’t show their most vulnerable moments, or their wildest ones. Instead, The Kardashians stands a few feet back from being genuinely authentic.

The Kardashians season 7 premieres October 23 on Hulu, with episodes dropping weekly.
