Some people may criticize my choice of purchasing this tiny, crumbling, old house, but I honestly don’t care. I’m so excited about the idea of renovating it all by myself!
After years of renting and never being able to paint a wall or hang a picture without permission, having my own place feels like a miracle. Yes, the stairs are wobbly and the floors creak, but it’s MINE. Every creaky board and crooked beam belongs to me.
I’ve been finding so many helpful free renovation guides on the Tedooo app from people who’ve tackled similar projects. There’s this whole community of DIY renovators sharing their before and after photos, and it’s giving me so much hope and inspiration.
My friends keep asking why I didn’t just buy something move-in ready, but they don’t understand. This little house has so much character and potential. Those exposed beams, the original fireplace, even that adorable green staircase – you can’t find charm like this in modern homes.
Sure, I’ll probably be living with dust and half-finished projects for the next few years, but I love that it’s small and cozy. Every room will be exactly how I want it because I’m creating it with my own hands.
I’m just content with what I have and grateful to finally have a roof over my head that I can call home. Sometimes the best things come in the smallest, most imperfect packages.
