I was just 26, single, and learning as I went. I couldn’t relate to the pain of abuse, or to being shuffled through five foster homes in four months. I couldn’t imagine what it felt like to be homeless, sleeping in a car. But what I could do was open my arms, love them fiercely, and remind them their story was far from over.
