I just have to share something that truly reminded me how much kindness still exists in this world.
My husband and I came up to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee from Brandon, Florida to escape Hurricane Irma. We decided to grab lunch at The Old Mill restaurant when suddenly every light on our dashboard lit up. Airbags, tire pressure, you name it. We turned the car off and it refused to start again.
The gentleman parked beside us kindly offered to give us a jump. As I went inside to put our name on the waitlist, he quietly told my husband he was the manager and would make sure we were seated right away. His name was Mo and he has been running The Old Mill for 23 years.
Not only did we get seated quickly but our food came out faster than we could have imagined. When we finished, our waitress placed an envelope on the table and told us it was from the manager. Inside was a letter, a voucher for free meals, and two hundred dollars in cash. The letter said he hoped everything would turn out okay for us, that his brother lives in Florida and he understands how devastating the hurricane has been. He wanted us to use the money in case we needed a new car battery.
I sat there completely stunned. A total stranger showed us such compassion and generosity in the middle of our stress and uncertainty. This simple act touched my heart more than words can explain.
Mo, you are a true blessing. Thank you for reminding us that there are still wonderful people in this world. I promise to carry your kindness forward.
