Hugh Jackman calls out Ryan Reynolds over ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ scene he cut him from

Hugh Jackman has a bone to pick with Ryan Reynolds.

The actors starred alongside one another in the 2024 action/sci-fi film “Deadpool & Wolverine” — but Jackman, 56, wasn’t happy to be left out of the Marvel project’s musical scene.

“Don’t tell Ryan… I don’t need to be in every scene in the movie,” he told the crowd at Radio City Music Hall where he was performing his show “From New York, With Love” on Friday, according to Daily Mail.

Jackman added, “But Ryan is a writer. And when I see the script, I see that the scene that I’m not in is the opening sequence which is a dance number to an *NSYNC song by Ryan.”

Of course, “The Greatest Showman” actor saw that and was immediately floored that he wasn’t included by the 48-year-old.

“I’m like, the one scene I’m not in has dance,” recalled Jackman. “Now Ryan, he’s very talented, but dancing?”

“‘There is no way I would try and match Ryan’s dance double Nick Pauley… because the guy’s like 25 years old,” he quipped.

The audience laughed as Jackman clarified he was going to “rectify” the problem. He then brought out his trainer and former dancer Beth Lewis to perform “the dance that got away” with him.

Jackman and Reynolds have been longtime pals, with the “Spirited” star even showing up to opening night of the Broadway vet’s New York City performance.

Reynolds surprised the room when he stood up in the audience for an impromptu “Hugh & A” session during the show.

He started off the interaction with a joke, per People, telling the crowd: “I was told this was going to be a comedy version of ‘Les Mis’ as a one-man show. We all said it was a terrible idea but he carried on. I see he’s duped me once again!”

Reynolds then took a moment to honor his “Deadpool & Wolverine” co-star with a heartfelt speech.

“This was the first major movie star I ever worked with, 16 or 17 years ago on ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine,’” the Canadian actor reminisced. “And I was young still. I was impressionable. I was expecting going to this movie set with this guy right here, and I didn’t know, I really didn’t know what was gonna happen. … But what I saw was just about the best thing anyone could possibly experience if you’re working your way up in the industry.”

Reynolds noted that Jackman was “a movie star, a capital M movie star…”

“I saw this gentleman right here walk around that set, and just like here, he knew every single person’s name, even though he was making them up half the time. He showed a kind of courtesy and gentleness and curiosity, and he put value into every single crew member that we were working with.”

Reynolds went on to label Jackman his “gotcha for life.”

“I mean it,” he gushed. “And I know we were supposed to finish this bit where these two security gentlemen come and they try to take the mic for me — it’s like a struggle, and then they tase me and I go down, and then they hog-tie me and then they put me in the Radio City music garbage dump, and then they just light it on fire.”

Reynolds, who shares three daughters and one son with wife Blake Lively, added: “But I wanted to actually just say, I love this man, I care about this man. He is, he is genuinely the best human being I know. And I have four children!”

Jackman returned the love, responding, “I love you, Ryan Reynolds, I love you, man,” before teasing Reynolds for placing as his fifth best friend.

“Thanks for coming. And thanks for asking for a free ticket, too.”

Jackman’s concert started in January and features the star performing songs from a variety of his most iconic stage and screen roles, including “The Boy From Oz,” “Les Misérables,” “The Greatest Showman” and “The Music Man.”

The actor booked 24 performances over eight weekends from April through October.

During opening night, the star shared his immense gratitude for those who came to see him in “From New York, With Love.”

“I said thank you at the beginning and I’m going to say it again. You all chose to be here with us on our first night at Radio City,” Jackman said while tearing up. “I hosted the Tonys here 22 years ago, and my dream was to perform here. Thank you for being here.”
