“Good blood.”
That’s what 14-year-old Anthony Muobike said when he got a big surprise.
Anthony had been practicing basketball for hours in his driveway, even without a hoop. He simply bounced the ball and perfected his moves, hoping not to disturb anyone with the noise.
But one of his neighbors, Ian Ray, noticed Anthony’s efforts. Wanting to help, he posted a message on a local Facebook group asking if anyone had an extra ring to donate.
The community rallied. She raised $750, and Canadian Tire donated a new basketball and hoop.
When Ian arrived with the gift, Anthony couldn’t believe his eyes. He was amazed and overjoyed. “Oh my God!” he said with a big smile.
Today, Anthony is more motivated than ever. He dreams of one day joining the NBA and wants to pay tribute to those who believed in him. His mother put it best: “My heart is full of joy.”
