Zach Gilford and Kiele Sanchez have called it quits.
The “Criminal Minds” star, 43, filed for divorce from the “Lost” alum, 47, after 12 years of marriage, according to court documents obtained by TMZ.
In Friday’s filing, the “Friday Night Lights” vet cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split, but did not list a date of separation.
Per the court documents, Gilford — who tied the knot with Sanchez in 2012 — is seeking joint legal and physical custody of their two kids Zeppelin, 7, and Revel, 4.
The pair are not only married in real life, but also play spouses on “Criminal Minds: Evolution” on Paramount+.
Gilford got candid on working alongside Sanchez in August, noting that starring opposite one another is “actually harder.”
He told Us Weekly, “It’s harder because I don’t want to hold a gun to my wife’s head. … It just happened to be that the nature of these scenes were pretty gross.”
Gilford plays Elias Voit, a serial killer who poses as a family man and hides his true identity from his wife Sydney (Sanchez) and their two daughters.
“Honestly, all those scenes are so f–ked up,” confessed Gilford. “I’ll only speak for myself. Kiele can obviously speak for herself, but it felt gross [bringing those darker moments to life together].”
The “Dare” alum also revealed how the series cast Sanchez in the role.
“I was on my way to work and I said goodbye to Kiele. And she looked at her phone and said, ‘That’s weird. I just got an offer to play your wife on ‘Criminal Minds,’” Gilford recalled.
“Then, [showrunner] Erica [Messer] told me, ‘We didn’t want to put pressure on you or Kiele. We just wanted to make it very professional,’” he explained. “I think they were like, ‘Well, if Zach’s doing this then the only way we’ll get an actress of Kiele’s caliber to play this part is because she’s married to him. And it’ll be like a homie hookup.’”
“Once they got Kiele, they definitely leaned into it and they’re like, ‘Well, we have this actress so let’s write to her.’”
Gilford and Sanchez first met in 2010 on set of “The Matadors.” In 2014, the two went on to star together in two projects: “Kingdom” and “The Purge: Anarchy.”
Sanchez was also a co-writer on Gilford’s episode of the 2023 horror series “The Fall of the House of Usher.”
“We’ve worked together several times and in very different situations,” the actor reflected to the outlet. “But there’s a theme on set when you are coworkers but also a married couple. It’s kind of trying to walk that tightrope. There’s times where I want to [support her]. Like, if she’s having a discussion [with a director or a writer], I want to be like, ‘Yeah, Kiele is right!’ But that’s not my place. Kiele can talk for herself — she’s a very strong woman.”
In 2013, Gilford and Sanchez’s wedding photographer, Jonas Peterson, revealed the star emailed him to shoot their special day and wanted to set the scene of how he met his then fiancée.
“It’s a very long email. I can’t think of any specific thing, but the whole email is amazing,” Peterson told ABC News at the time. “[He said], ‘I want to tell you the story of how I met the love of my life.’”
Gilford told Peterson that when he met Sanchez they were both with other people, “but [he said], ‘We knew we had to spend our lives together.’”
“It’s just a long story about him and her and personal loss — and by the end I said, ‘I’m doing this.’”
“It’s amazing to meet people who treat me like family,” Peterson reflected. “I was honored and amazed. There’s such a facade of actors and there was no facade with them at all. This was them being themselves, crying and all of that. This was them.”
Their wedding was a star-studded event.
In attendance was Michelle Hurd, who starred on “The Glades” with Sanchez, and her husband Garret Lee Dillahunt.
Gilford’s former “Friday Night Lights” co-star Jesse Plemons, who tied the knot with Kirsten Dunst in 2022, was also at the big day.
“Oh man, that guy [Plemons] can play guitar!” Peterson shared with the outlet. “He’s in a band called Cowboy and Indian and they were good — very good! [Gilford and Sanchez] are the most normal people in the world. It’s so nice to see that celebrities can be completely normal and down-to-earth because, trust me, that never happens.”
He added of Gilford and Sanchez: “They are the most in-love couple you’ll ever see. It’s really amazing. Zach said, ‘This is the love of my life and I want you to come capture that.’ And that’s how it was, and that’s how they act. To see them doing this thing was spectacular.”
In 2015, the pair was expecting their first child together, a son, when Sanchez suffered a pregnancy loss.
“We regretfully confirm that Zach Gilford and Kiele Sanchez recently lost their child to a late-term miscarriage,” a rep for the couple told People at the time.
“No additional details will be made available. We thank everyone in advance for their sensitivity and discretion during this difficult time.”
Shortly after the birth of their daughter in 2017, Gilford and Sanchez told People: “We have always wanted to be parents and Zeppelin has made our dreams come true.”
