Harris told Fox News immediately after the ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ vote passed in the Senate that they were not going to even look at it until next week because of the amount of added debt the Senate ended up stuffing in the bill during negotiations.
“That’s exactly why a group of us are not going to vote to advance the bill until we iron out some of the deficit problems,” the Congressman told Fox News live after the Senate voted to pass the bill with VP JD Vance breaking a 50/50 tie.
“[Elon] Musk is right. We can not sustain these deficits. He understands finances. He understands debts and deficits. We have to make further progress, and I believe the Freedom Caucus will take the lead on making that further progress,” Harris said.
When asked if Harris thinks the House will even get the bill across the finish line, Harris said, “I believe by next week we can come to an agreement.” The Maryland congressman did make it very clear that they won’t even look at it [the Bill] until next Wednesday.
