Bachelor In Paradise Season 10’s Failed Attempt To Copy Love Island USA

Bachelor In Paradise season 10 has been tough to get through, and after a flop of a finale, it’s clear the show’s revamp should’ve never copied another iconic series. Bachelor In Paradise felt like the first of its kind when it premiered in 2014. The series, which brought together Bachelor Nation hopefuls for a second chance at love, had a massive following at first.

After years of drama and a brief hiatus to figure out what needed to change for the long-running show, Bachelor In Paradise season 10 premiered just a few months ago, bringing viewers back to the beach. With a new location, a new editing style, and changes in the way the series ran, viewers weren’t happy with the big shift at all.

While it may have been an experimental season, Bachelor In Paradise season 10 consistently pushed viewers away, bringing in elements of another iconic dating series that’s taken viewers’ attention from the Bachelor franchise. Though some of the updates were an interesting test, it’s clear after a tough finale that Bachelor In Paradise never should’ve tried to copy another dating series.

Bachelor In Paradise Isn’t Supposed To Feel Like A Love Island Byproduct

The Show Lost All Of Its Charm In The Process

Although Bachelor In Paradise has long had its issues, the fact that the show quickly found itself moving into a competition-style strategy game rather than a search for love made it clear that the change to a more Love Island USA-style series wasn’t the right move. Throughout Bachelor In Paradise season 10, viewers compared it to Love Island USA with disdain.

Bachelor Nation wasn’t looking for Paradise to make a major change, and the majority of viewers weren’t happy with the fact that the show added in a competitive element, including a cash prize at the end of the season. While some did find love on Bachelor In Paradise, the finale focused far too much on the competition, as did the rest of the season.

Bachelor In Paradise isn’t supposed to feel like a Love Island USA franchise series, and bringing those elements into the mix made it tough to watch throughout the season. While the series was right to try and update itself, taking elements from other shows didn’t help Paradise feel like it was growing into its next iteration. Instead, it felt like it was copying another series.

Next Season, Bachelor Nation Should Return To A Bachelor Pad Format

Paradise Was Never Meant To Be A Competition

Although Bachelor In Paradise was always meant to be a series that brought franchise stars together in order to find love in new ways, it was originally a replacement for the franchise’s first competition, Bachelor Pad. If Bachelor Nation wants to make Paradise into a competition series, they should move back to the Bachelor Pad format moving forward, instead.

Seeing Paradise shift so drastically away from its original intention was tough for long-time viewers of the series, and while it kept some conventions, the revamp didn’t land successfully. Instead, Bachelor Nation viewers would likely be more interested in seeing a concept like Bachelor Pad come back to life, while Bachelor In Paradise may be ready to get shelved for good.
