NEW: 85-year-old woman hospitalized after being punched with brass knuckles and faceplanting while getting robbed by a teen in Lakewood, California.

The woman was walking when the teen confronted her and yanked her purse.
“The [victim’s] daughter said he had brass knuckles, so he socked her before pulling her purse away from her,” said a neighbor.
“He totally surprised her. She had no idea this was going to happen to her at all.”
“She spent probably a week in the hospital. She has like 16 stitches on the side of her head from what happened.”
The suspect has since been arrested, but authorities aren’t releasing his name because of “his juvenile status.”
