From report: “The U.S. Border Patrol Academy is seeing more applicants than they have in 15 years. In fact, there is a 44% increase in individuals wanting to serve and wear the Green. One reason, according to the Deputy Chief, is that there’s been a significant morale shift under the Trump administration. Agents signing up now believe they are signing up to do that job and carry out the policies, including offensive driving techniques, which were scrapped under the Biden administration.
23-hundred trainees went through this program after those policies were discontinued, so they weren’t certified in those techniques. I had more training behind the wheel doing pit maneuvers than these 23-hundred agents who graduated from the academy. This allowed us to conduct pit maneuvers safely. We were also the first media to use the new red-dot sights that all agents will be using. These sights help improve proficiency in firing patterns, keeping their eyes on the target.
We participated in 4×4 driving and observed a “legacy run” where border patrol agents go through the process right before graduation and meet up with their families.”
