A story shared by Kaye Fiorello from the United States:
“I was driving up Interstate 75 in Tennessee when I noticed a state trooper parked along the road. A few minutes later, I spotted a dog lying in the ditch. She looked weak and in bad shape. I had an appointment to get to, but my heart wouldn’t let me drive on. I decided to turn around.
When I came back, the trooper was still there! I told him about the dog, and without hesitation, he asked where she was and jumped into action. I followed him, and sure enough — there she was, still panting, barely hanging on.
That trooper emptied his jug of Kool-Aid, turned it into a makeshift water bowl, and poured her some clean water from a few bottles he had. The dog was scared, but curious. She sniffed the bowl, then realized the kindness was for her — and drank every drop. He refilled it again, even offered her a Little Debbie snack.
She watched him carefully, still unsure, but you could tell she wanted to trust him. Then the trooper went back to his car, pulled out a chair and an umbrella, and said he’d stay with her until she felt safe — so he could take her to a shelter, or maybe even home.
I drove away with tears in my eyes. It felt like one of those small moments that remind us goodness is still all around us.
Meet Trooper Tudors of the Tennessee State Highway Patrol — one of the good guys. 💗🐾
(And yes, he later adopted that sweet dog!)”
