Late last night, six-year-old Oliver Ramirez wandered away from his home near Military Drive and Tholl Road around 6 p.m. For hours, deputies, officers, and neighbors searched tirelessly to find him.
Just before midnight, Deputies Garrett Bird and Oscar Tejeda were driving through the neighborhood, calling Oliver’s name over their unit’s PA system, when he finally peeked out from underneath a vehicle. He was cold, scared, and shivering.
Deputy Bird scooped him up, hugged him tightly, and carried him home — comforting him the whole way, just as any father would.
There’s no greater honor than serving and protecting our community, and we’re so grateful this story had such a happy ending. ❤️
