I’ve been comparing how the three Sister Wives women run their Instagrams lately, especially with Christine’s book release coming up. Here’s what stands out:
Follower counts right now:
- Christine: 1.5M
- Janelle: 1.4M
- Meri: 1M
But the raw numbers don’t tell the whole story. The engagement is where it gets interesting.
Christine:
She’s in heavy promo mode for her book, and that shows in her comments. If you look at recent posts, there’s a pattern: every time someone comments with “book” or “audio,” Christine (or her team) replies with the same canned message: “Sent / check your spam folder if you don’t see it.”
Now, Christine does engage genuinely sometimes (liking fan comments, saying thank you, responding to questions, dropping the occasional heart), but the repeated copy-paste replies make the whole thread feel bot-like. Combine that with actual scam bots that target keywords like “book” and “DM,” and her comments section starts looking spammy.
Fans scrolling through the comments don’t see her personality. They see customer-service-style replies. That can dampen engagement even though she’s very present online. Hopefully her team revamped their approach.
Janelle:
Completely different vibe. Janelle’s replies feel authentic, warm, and varied. She’ll drop a heart, say something conversational like “So glad you liked that ” or just chat back and forth naturally. It feels like a real person on the other side.
Because of this, her posts (especially personal ones about her gardening, family milestones, or even being in PJs at 5pm) get huge engagement for her follower count. She hits 1M+ views more often than Christine despite having fewer followers.
She’s also consistent about acknowledging fans, even if it’s just a heart reaction. That builds loyalty for the long term.
Meri:
She lands somewhere in between. Meri occasionally engages (liking or responding), but she’s not as steady as Janelle. Her posts swing in engagement. Some hit big numbers (dog content, travel selfies, etc), while others drop off.
Her brand is more self-help and motivational, which gets her a steady baseline but not the same highs as Janelle’s approachable style.
TLDR: Christine has the follower lead and may get a good spike with the hype around her book, but her engagement feels mechanical. I hope she fixes that. Janelle is building the strongest community by simply being conversational and human in her replies, which will really benefit her once the show is over and her followers remain invested in her. Meri is somewhere in the middle but could improve by mixing consistency with her more relatable posts.
I'm really curious if the book release will impact the numbers.
