Today, an older man asked me if I was good with phones because he couldn’t open a picture message his granddaughter sent him.
After I put Sienna in her pram, I looked at his phone. It was an old Nokia. Since it wasn’t a smartphone, I told him he probably couldn’t see the picture. He was really sad and told me it was a photo of his granddaughter and her new baby — his great granddaughter — who he hadn’t met yet because they live far away in Buxton.
So, I sent the message to my phone and finally opened the picture for him. He got very emotional seeing his great granddaughter for the first time. You could see how much he loved them both from his teary eyes.
He wanted to give me £20 to buy a toy for my daughter to thank me, but I said I didn’t want it. Still, he insisted. I asked him to wait while I went to Boots to print the photo and bought a frame for it too.
When I gave him the framed photo, he was so happy, really touched.
This made my day, to see how happy I made him.
