I’ve Changed My Mind: Samantha Riehl Isn’t The Villain Of Farmer Wants A Wife Season 3 (She’s Just Being Herself)

Samantha Riehl has gotten a reputation for being the villain of Farmer Wants A Wife season 3, but I don’t think she deserves that title, as she’s simply being herself on the reality dating show. Samantha came to Farmer Wants A Wife for John Sansone, a law school student and self-described urban cowboy. Despite Samantha’s intense nature, John selected her to join him at the farm a day before the other Farmer Wants A Wife cast members.

Audiences started to see Samantha as the villain of the season early on. However, I think Samantha has received too much hate. Everyone on a dating show is allowed to approach their journey however they please, and I think Samantha is being honest in her journey, which should be applauded.

Samantha was upfront with Farmer John from the moment they met. She wanted someone who shared her values, the most important of which was loyalty. To the audience, it seemed that Samantha grilled the farmer on his definition of loyalty, which made her appear harsh and led to her being called the villain of the season.

I think Samantha is simply clear about what she wants in her future husband, and she doesn’t want to waste time if she and Farmer John aren’t on the same page. Luckily for John, Samantha appreciated his definition of the all-important word. Later that day, John chose Samantha for the first date.

John cited Samantha’s “mean flirting” as one of the reasons he was intrigued by her. As the audience, we didn’t see much of this flirtation style during the speed date or during the duo’s time on the farm. We should assume that we haven’t seen every aspect of John and Samantha’s relationship, and there are probably a lot of reasons why John is so smitten by the blonde bombshell that we don’t know about.

Samantha Was Willing To Walk Away

She’s Not On The Show For Fame

Samantha made it clear from the very first episode of Farmer Wants A Wife season 3 that she would leave the show if John wasn't up to her standards. Her verbiage wasn't doing her any favors when it came to the audience seeing her as the villain, but I think Samantha's approach to reality TV was admirable.

Instead of coming on Farmer Wants A Wife for fame, Samantha was looking for true love.

If Samantha were going on a reality dating show to get more TikTok followers, she wouldn't be so willing to walk away, especially not in episode one. On the one hand, the audience is more invested in John's journey to find love, not Samantha's, and Samantha's willingness to leave could appear selfish. However, I think both people in a relationship should be 100% sure about each other. If Samantha isn't sure about John, she has every right to do what's best for her.

    Are Samantha And John Compatible?

Could They Be A Perfect Match?

At this point, it's too early to tell if Samantha and John are compatible. They're attracted to each other, but relationships take more than attraction. Samantha and John both describe themselves as leaders who want to be in the driver's seat of a relationship, which could mean they wouldn't be a good match together. We'll have to wait and see if John and Samantha can make a relationship work on Farmer Wants A Wife.

Farmer Wants A Wife airs on Fox on Thursdays at 9pm E.T.
