We were in line to check in our bags, when my daughter burst out in tears. Amid the race to the get to the airport,
my 5-year-old left her homemade luggage tag for her American Girl doll. As we approached the Southwest Airlines counter,
my little girl was visibly upset.
But instead of ignoring my daughter’s meltdown, the employee looked sweetly at my child.
“Oh no,” she said. “You don’t have a tag to let your doll on the plane?
Not to worry, sweet girl, we’ll take care of that.”
The employee grabbed a luggage tag and wrote my daughter’s name on that. Instantly, the tears stopped and a smile spread over Piper’s face.
She strolled through the airport, sporting her “precious cargo” and the tag that showed her bag was “official”.
In the chaotic rush at the airport, an employee took 30 seconds to make my daughter’s day.
It doesn’t take more than a moment to change the trajectory of someone’s day.
And this, my friends, is a sweet lesson that kindness matters…
especially in the eyes of child and her mom
