There’s Still Time To Watch This Scandalous 8-Episode Reality TV Show Before Season 2 Premieres In May

The Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives came out in a hurry and gained popularity quickly, meaning there was a group of reality TV enthusiasts who didn’t get into the initial hype of the show, but if you missed the first wave of popularity for the series, there’s still time to catch up before its next season premiere. While Hulu’s selection of original reality TV hasn’t always been the most recommendable, watching The Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives season 1 left me wondering why the platform hadn’t tackled reality TV like this before. Pulpy and interesting, the show is a must-watch.

With The Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives season 2, on its way, the first season sets the stage. Viewers are brought into an already-intriguing world full of young mothers who patented a new side of TikTok, MomTok. While there were already mothers on TikTok prior to the group, the trendy videos they were sharing were different from the traditional advice videos or thinly-veiled critical jokes already on the app. Instead, the women were tackling trends, creating dances, and making content that was more sultry than expected. When cameras joined to document their rise, all hell broke loose in their community.

While I wasn’t sure what would be waiting for me on a show about Mormon wives…the MomTok group changed my narrow perspective entirely.

The Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives Season 1 Is A Short Binge

It’s Only 8 Episodes Long

The Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives season 1 is one of the most impactful seasons of reality TV I’ve seen in a while. Joining the MomTok community, a group of Mormon women in Utah who were trying to break into the TikTok market with videos that broke stereotypes about Mormon women, the show finds a friend group on the brink of breaking in its early episodes. While I wasn’t sure what would be waiting for me on a show about Mormon wives, who are typically seen in media as traditional and conservative, the MomTok group changed my narrow perspective entirely.

While there’s a backdrop of Mormonism on the show, the ways the MomTok ladies engage with the world is a lot similar to other women in their 20s and 30s, just from a different lens. The drama on the series is rife for scrutiny, especially when within the early episodes, a scandal arises when Taylor Frankie Paul reveals that she and her husband were engaging in “soft swinging” with other members of their friend group. From that revelation on, everything in the community changes, and trust me, the tension that ripples throughout the series is delicious in every possible way.

The Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives Season 1 Brings Huge Drama

It’s A Fast-Paced Fun Season

From the accusations of soft swinging to the dynamics between some of the women, like Jen Affleck, and their husbands, The Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives didn’t have a dull moment to speak of throughout the first season. As someone who likes high-drama reality TV, I felt enraptured throughout the entire first season of the series and was immediately hopeful we’d get the chance to see another. Though I was happy about the show’s renewal, it wasn’t until I heard the majority of the cast would be back for another season that I was truly sat down, ready, and waiting.

The Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives Season 1 Will Get You In On The Conversation

It’s Setting The Stage For Season 2

As The Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives season 2 gets ready to premiere, many are likely revisiting the first season for a refresher course. With so much drama happening and women changing their minds on who they’re aligned with in the MomTok group, there was so much happening within the first season to keep track of. The drama was juicy, and it appears to be just the tip of the iceberg. I’m confident that The Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives season 2 will be even better than the first, but if you didn’t watch, it’s time to take the plunge.

The Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives season 2 drops on Hulu on Thursday, May 15.
