🌟 So very proud of you, Julie Evans Schaferling.
At 3:00 AM one Saturday morning, while driving home from work, Julie came across a terrible car accident on FM1488. A man had crashed, hitting a pole, and was badly trapped inside his vehicle.
Julie immediately called 911, gave them the exact location, and calmly explained that the driver was trapped—making sure they sent the right rescue teams. Magnolia Fire, Montgomery County Sheriff, and MCHD rushed to the scene.
She stayed by his side the entire time, never leaving him alone. Responders knew her and trusted her assessment. They intubated him right there through the windshield as the fire department cut the car away from him.
When she came home and shared the story, I was already proud of her—proud that she gave comfort and hope in such a dark, frightening moment. But deep down, we both knew the odds of him surviving were almost zero. He had broken bones, collapsed lungs, severe internal injuries, and massive blood loss. Even the EMS crews later said his chances were nearly impossible.
And yet—fast forward 2 months—and Julie receives a friend request on Facebook. Against all odds, today she got to meet the man whose life she stood beside that night. ❤️
