JUST IN: Pennsylvania State Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta Elected As A DNC Vice Chair – The Hill

Pennsylvania state Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta was elected as a vice chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) Saturday, after the party revoked an earlier election that elevated David Hogg to one of the vice chairs.

Kenyatta, who was also elected in that first election, secured the position again after receiving 374.5 votes, or 99 percent of voting members in the re-vote. Hogg did not run this time around, and the party will select among three female candidates on Tuesday for a second vacant vice chair role.

“Malcolm Kenyatta has been a strong and effective leader as DNC Vice Chair. He has been committed to this work since day one, and I look forward to continuing this fight with him,” said DNC Chair Ken Martin.

DNC Vice Chair David Hogg announced Wednesday that he would not be running for reelection for his spot. His decision came after DNC members voted 294 to 99 to redo the vice chair election of Hogg and Kenyatta.
