I met him on the street one afternoon. He looked worn out, his fur matted and his little body showing every hardship he had endured. Yet when I got closer, he lifted his paw as if to say hello, as if he was begging me to see him. In that small gesture was a world of hope shining through his tired eyes.

I knelt down and touched him gently, and in that moment I knew I was making a promise. He would never have to struggle on his own again. Today he has a home, a warm bed, and a family that loves him. For the first time in his life, he can rest knowing he is safe.
