What an astounding sight! This is the Giant Chinese Dobson Fly, Acanthacorydalis fruhstorferi, a colossal aquatic insect inhabiting the cold mountain rivers of Southern China and Northern Vietnam. What’s fascinating is that after spending most of its life as a larva underwater, it only emerges as a magnificent winged adult for about a brief week!
