Today, I saw something that really made my day. A Chicago police officer was sitting at a window seat in Chipotle, and outside, he noticed a homeless man going through the trash. The officer knocked on the window to get the man’s attention. Through the glass, he asked the man if he was hungry. The man nodded yes, and the officer motioned for him to come inside. He told the man to put his things down and said he could order whatever he wanted because he would pay for it. They stood in line together, and when it was time to pay, the officer covered the cost of the meal. After a simple handshake, they went their separate ways like it was no big deal. It really touched my heart. With all the negative attention the police get these days, it reminded me that there’s so much good out there that often goes unnoticed. If everyone did something simple like this every day, the world would be a much better place.
