“I Know My Rights”… While Stealing $800 Worth of Merchandise:
Suspect: “I know my rights! Hold on, no, I’m not turning around nothing!”
Officer: “Keep your hand out of the bag, put it down, put the phone down, and give me an ID.”
Suspect: “An ID? For what, sir?”
Officer: “Ma’am, I will place you under arrest for suspicious activity.”
Suspect: “I didn’t do anything.”
Woman takes off running from the officer and was eventually apprehended after a short chase in the parking lot.
Officer: “They told me at Target you stole a bag of stuff.”
Suspect: “I didn’t steal anything, sir.”
Officer: “Don’t argue with me. Just give me your ID and we’ll figure this out.”
Suspect: “I didn’t steal anything, sir. I’m sorry to tell you that, I’m a regular citizen, I’m on the phone with my mom, I didn’t do anything wrong.”
Suspect: “I don’t have an ID, sir. I do not have an ID.”
Suspect: “Mom, can you come to [inaudible] right here? Because I’m being harassed by an officer. What is your badge number, sir?”
Officer: “Sit down.”
Suspect: “Sir, what is your badge number? I know my rights, I know my rights, sir.”
Suspect: “Hold on, no, I’m not turning around nothing!”
