I used Lyft for the first time to go pick up my car from the dealership. About halfway through the ride, the driver got a call through his car speaker—it was someone talking about repossessing his car. He quickly took the call off speaker and told the person he needed two more weeks.
I’ve been in that kind of situation before, so I knew they likely weren’t going to wait that long—once it’s in repo status, it’s serious. I asked him a few questions, then decided to call the bank myself and paid what he owed to bring his account up to date.
Seeing that young man cry right there in the car brought me to tears too. He didn’t ask me for anything. I just truly wanted to help from my heart, not for attention.
Before I got out, I told him this: some of the best people, including me, have been right where you are. Keep going—better days are coming. It’s a blessing to be able to bless someone else and be in a position to help.
