My Mom was and is a wonderful Mom When I was born I was the third and last child She was 22 and my Father was 31. He worked hard and so did Mom.! My Mom never stopped working. She was always busy! Sewing for people, Giving people perms, Ironing for pay, and caring for three children! We were 16 months apart! She milked the cow, cared for our horse, and took care of timber horses when they rented stables in our barn.
SO why am I showing a salt box???? It is an example of how she entertained us She would tell us stories and make our toys! She would tell us that you could catch a bird if you could put salt on its tail! Now we could not waste salt but when the box was almost empty she would leave just a little salt in the box and then she would give it to us. Immediately we would rush from the house with this blue round salt box absolutely sure we would catch a bird! She would have a little quiet and peace as we chased birds with a saltbox! It worked for a few years when we were small and I am sure she needed some space! As we grew older she found other ways to entertain us! Today all three of us are devoted to her and feel so blessed to have her! She will be 93 on April 23 So tonight as I used the last salt from this box I was overwhelmed with love for this wonderful woman who gave me life!
